A Letter of Thanks

I want to offer my deepest and sincerest “THANK YOU” to the entire Hunton Group family, and especially to Richard and Randy for recognizing my upcoming retirement of October 1st during our Hunton Services quarterly meeting yesterday. I wasn’t able to convey my appreciation as I should have at the time because I was totally surprised and taken aback, and still am. And beyond that, I have never been “very good” with accepting recognition, especially on an occasion as this for something resulting from simply being given the privilege and opportunity to work for the Hunton Group the past 22 years.

I did mention in my response that it was important for those new to the company to realize that the Hunton Group is, always has, and always will be a great place to work. I am witness to that because I got my first job in the air conditioning industry in August of 1973 (44 years ago), and 22 of those (50% of my career) I’ve been here. I, like others, early in my career had various offers from different companies and, at times, felt maybe the “grass might be a little greener.” But, once I became an employee of the Hunton Group and, realizing their stability and strength, ownership and leadership qualities and the vast opportunities, I knew this was “the place” where I wanted to finish my career.

I also want to mention the many people in the meeting that I’ve been so fortunate to work alongside, not only during my field service days, but from a supervisory and managerial position as well. There are many of you who were at Trane when I came aboard and, still, many who I’ve had the privilege of hiring and mentoring over the years. Further, I’ve been fortunate to work with many of you in an office setting whereas I have been able to interact in an administrative capacity on almost a daily basis. All of these relationships have been wonderful experiences that I will always honor. Thank you all for allowing me to be a part of your working lives.

I’m sure I could continue as there is so much more I could say regarding the appreciation I have for the entire Hunton Group family, but I know this, in this format, is already lengthier than many might prefer. I will say, though, that I will be here 2 more months and, even thereafter, I plan to remain in contact with this great group.

Once again, thank you so much!

With the utmost sincerity,

Robert Means

Hunton Tech Celebrates Top 30 Qualifying Performance

The American Ninja Warrior San Antonio Qualifying course welcomed Hunton's "6 ft 6 in Ninja," Jody Avila, where he put on an amazing performance, ranking in the Top 30. Jody's hard work and dedication were apparent as he easily progressed through the course, with his family and coworkers cheering him on. The qualifying run of Season 9 aired on June 19th at 7 p.m. on NBC.

Hunton is so proud of Jody's accomplishments as an HVAC technician as well as an American Ninja Warrior, and our work family will be rooting him on in the finals. "Thanks to everyone for all of the encouragement and support," Avila graciously stated, "It truly means the world to me."

Weatherproofing for a Corrosive Environment

Does Your Chiller Live in a Highly Corrosive Environment? Not a problem.

At Hunton Services, we modify commercial air conditioning equipment for alternate, industrial, and/or process use.Our Fabrication and Manufacturing group specializes in petrochemical applications of HVAC and process cooling equipment. Our modification applications and engineering experience includes over twenty years of chemical, process, instrumentation, and mechanical engineering, as well as major industrial design.

This past month our in-house fabrication division worked on a new chiller that is going to be housed in a Brine plant, a highly corrosive environment. Our team weather-proofed the chiller by retrofitting all control panels, enclosures, as well as the motor terminal box with 304 stainless steel Nema 4x panels.  Before the machine was insulated and clad with white vinyl, it was coated with Ameron PSX-700. All wiring harness and sensors were also enclosed for optimal protection.

With a fully-equipped fabrication and modification operation, Hunton designs and builds custom heating, ventilation, air conditioning, filtration, and pressurization equipment meeting the special needs and stringent requirements of the industrial marketplace.
